MILDRED MCDONALD arrested in animal cruelty case described as “extremely sad and heartbreaking”

In late September 2024, the Winston County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to a case of animal abuse at a property on Old Clear Creek Road where MILDRED MCDONALD (pictured), had resided.


An investigation was launched and according to the press release by the sheriff’s office, the property “was found to be in an extreme state of neglect”. Inside and around the property, officials discovered approximately thirty (30) or more animals, mostly dogs “in varying states of abuse and neglect.”


Deputies then obtained and executed a search warrant. Evidence was collected and with the assistance of the Birmingham Humane Society the abused animals were removed from the property.

Some of the Voiceless Victims were taken to shelters in hopes of rehoming, and sadly, some others “had to be euthanized due to their extreme mistreatment.”


Deputies received a tip that MCDONALD was hiding in a home in Adamsville and she was arrested.

MCDONALD was charged with ten felony counts of animal cruelty in the first degree and booked into the Winston County Jail on a $100,000 bond.


Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy said: “This is one of the worst cases involving the abuse and neglect of animals that I’ve seen in my career, it is an extremely sad and heartbreaking thing to see, I just can’t seem to find a reason that anyone would want to live like that or allow animals to be in those conditions, the only positive thing that I can see here is that these animals are no longer suffering.”

ANITA DAMODARAN arrested in Florida on a warrant from Chicago Police for animal cruelty

On the afternoon of December 10, 2024, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested 38-year-old ANITA DAMODARAN (pictured) on a warrant from the Chicago Police Department for counts of animal cruelty.


In a press release the sheriff’s office said that DAMODARAN was taken into custody at a residence off of Barbados Isle Drive in Tampa.

DAMODARAN was booked into the Orient Road Jail and the Chicago Police Department will extradite her to Illinois.


It all started back in March 2024, with a phone call to the Hinsdale Humane Society after two women found a dog named Betty “in a Chicago residence, locked in a plastic container—the kind you store Christmas decorations in—with crates stacked on top”, said the organization in a press release.


Given the condition Betty was found in, the Good Samaritans rushed her to MedVet Chicago.


One of Betty’s rescuers recounted the moments of the heartbreaking discovery, “When the two crates were removed, we stopped in our tracks because we suddenly saw the lid pop off and a tiny paw reach out. We thought it was a container of stuffed animals. Then the lid fell completely off and out came a matted creature staring at us in despair, with eyes that were stoic and unblinking. It took at least 30 seconds, although it felt like eternity, for us to realize that this was a dog close to its last breath.”


The Hinsdale Humane Society said in a Facebook post that Betty, now renamed Boots, is living her best life because of those who kindly donated toward her medical care.


Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said: “We remain committed to collaborating with our law enforcement partners to ensure that those who commit acts of cruelty are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our dedication extends to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our community, innocent victims who cannot speak for themselves.”

BRANDON WILLIAM JACKSON arrested – one dead, and five live but emaciated dogs found at his home

On December 4, 2024, the Monroe Police Department received concerning information about the welfare of dogs at a residence on 300 Magnolia Drive.


According to the Department’s press release, officers responded to the given address to investigate and in the yard, they found five dogs who were “severely emaciated.” Sadly, officers also discovered a deceased dog.


All of the Voiceless Victims were removed from the property.


Police said a necropsy was performed on the deceased furvictim and results showed he/she died from “dehydration and starvation.”


Police arrested 46-year-old BRANDON WILLIAM JACKSON (pictured) and charged him with five felony counts of animal cruelty and five misdemeanor counts of failing to vaccinate his dogs.

JACKSON was processed in the Union County Detention Center with a $2,000 bond. At the time of writing, records show JACKSON bonded out of jail and is scheduled to appear in Union County District Court on May 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.


I took the liberty of naming the deceased furvictim Forest for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.
