CHRISTOPHER WINCHELL JR wanted by the Palmer Township Police Department for killing his ex-girlfriend’s cat

The Palmer Township Police Department said that a warrant is out for the arrest of 20-year-old CHRISTOPHER WINCHELL JR. of Elyria, Ohio.

WINCHELL is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s cat.


Police said that on March 5, 2025, officers responded to an apartment building in the 500 block of Oakwood Street for a violation of a protection from abuse order.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the caller, WINCHELL’s ex-girlfriend. The woman told officers that on February 20, 2025, she arrived at the apartment and WINCHELL told her he used a hammer to kill her cat and then disposed of the furvictim’s body in a trash can.


Officers processed the scene and seized the evidence related to the incident.


On March 11, 2025, District Judge Susan Hutnik issued the arrest warrant for WINCHELL who is facing felony aggravated cruelty to animals; misdemeanor cruelty to animals; and misdemeanor possessing an instrument of crime.

Investigators say WINCHELL could possibly be traveling back to the Elyria, Ohio area.

Male posing as a vet in Monterey County facing animal cruelty and other charges

The SPCA Monterey County is seeking information about a man impersonating a veterinarian in Monterey County.


According to the press release by the agency, the individual, of Prunedale, “is providing veterinary care without a license and is suspected of animal abuse and cruelty. He has been giving veterinary examinations, prescribing medication, and even performing invasive surgeries in his home.”


The organization said that at least one innocent dog died as a result of the individual’s negligence and many other dogs are now in need of follow-up vet care.


The SPCA further said that the individual was most recently performing illegal, unlicensed veterinary procedures at a home in the 1600 block of Blackie Road in Prunedale and before that, at a home on McGowan in Salinas.


On November 4, 2024, investigators with the SPCA along with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and investigators with the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, served a search warrant at the home on Blackie Road leading to the discovery of many dogs and two horses.


Officials found twelve French Bulldogs in small cages that did not have any food or water. Moreover, four of them were “housed in a shed with no access to sunlight or ventilation.”

A skinny German Shepherd was found roaming and a Doberman was discovered in a small kennel without any food or water.


All fourteen dogs as well as two horses were thankfully removed and are now safe. The two horses are back with their guardians and the dogs are “in protective custody”, said the SPCA.


Investigators with the SPCA believe that there may be additional victims in the community and are asking the public to come forward with information that can help with the ongoing investigation.

JORGE AYALA wanted by Turlock Police as suspect in a dogfighting case where 73 dogs were rescued

I have heard back from the Turlock Police Department and I was told that “ There were no deceased animals found at the residence at the time of the search warrant. There was one emaciated puppy that has unfortunately passed away since being taken to Animal Services. None of the rescued dogs have been euthanized.”

The Turlock Police Department needs the public’s assistance to locate 46-years-old JORGE AYALA (pictured).

 

Police said in a media release that AYALA is the suspect of an investigation that led to the rescue of seventy-three (73) INNOCENT dogs, all Pitbull mixes.

 

The investigation began in early March 2024, after Turlock Animal Services became suspicious of three homes in the 400 block of S. First Street in Turlock when officers saw ten dogs tethered outside. (In the state of California, it is illegal to tie your dog to any stationary object for more than a 3-hour period within 24 hours.)

 

After further investigation and surveillance of the homes, on March 28, 2024, a search warrant was served at the three residences “for an alleged animal cruelty investigation and possible dogfighting”, stated the release.

 

Along with patrol and Animal Services, Turlock Police Department Detectives and the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) found and rescued a total of seventy-three (73) dogs from the three properties. Police said the living conditions the Voiceless Victims were living in were “deplorable and inhumane.” Some of the dogs were pregnant and close to giving birth.

 

The innocent souls were stuffed in small crates that could only house one small dog and did not have any access to water or food. Each crate was stacked on top of each other.

 

All of the furvictims were seized as evidence and taken to the shelter where they have been evaluated by a veterinarian and treated for any injuries or diseases.

 

Police said that due to the high number of dogs at the shelter and limited space, Turlock Police Animal Services will not be accepting owner surrenders until further notice. Additionally, Animal Services are asking for the community’s assistance in adopting ten dogs who are not part of the investigation. All fees will be waived.
