Members of the New York State Police arrested 36-year-old KRYSTA DAWN LABARR (pictured – via Facebook).

Police said that on the afternoon of April 15, 2025, Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Brooklyn Road in the town of Lawrence to investigate an animal cruelty complaint.

From the investigation it emerged that “two adult dogs and five puppies had been abandoned inside a residence” and that LABARR was their guardian.

According to the police, the furvictims were malnourished and underweight and the residence was covered in urine and feces.

All of the Voiceless Victims were removed from the residence with the assistance of Animal Control and the Potsdam Humane Society.

Three days later, on April 18, 2025, LABARR was arrested and charged with seven counts of animal cruelty for torturing or injuring animals and failing to provide adequate sustenance. She was transported to SP Massena for processing and then released on an appearance ticket, which requires her to return to Lawrence Town Court in June.

The Toledo Police Department arrested 33-year-old MICHELLE ANN ROBERTS (pictured).

Officers responded to a house in the 400 block of 3rd Street in east Toledo from which ROBERTS had been evicted. She left without taking her dogs and when officers arrived at the home, they found two live Pitbulls and a deceased Pitbull puppy in a bedroom upstairs.

Officers found the live Pitbulls in cages with garbage piled on top of them, hiding them from sight. The furvictims had no food or water and it appeared they had been abandoned for several days due to the condition they were in.

Officers reported that the three dogs’ rib bones were visible and it appeared that the puppy had starved to death.

ROBERTS was taken into custody on April 11, 2025, and was charged with one count of cruelty to animals. Online arrest records show she was released from the Lucas County Jail on a $1,500 bond.

I took the liberty of naming the deceased puppy Cloud, for the tribute image. Should his/her given name be made public, I will rectify it accordingly.

ROBERTS’ mugshot shared from the Lucas County Sheriff's Office

- New York, USA -

After the discovery of a deceased dog at an abandoned home near the Village of Monticello, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook to share a devastating picture of the deceased furvictim.

According to the Facebook post, deputies found the dog in a crate in a home on 207 Cold Spring Road, on January 30, 2025.

The furvictim, named Nala, was found extremely underfed and fell victim to the cold.

The sheriff’s office reached out to the public for information regarding the dog’s guardian and on February 6, 2025, the sheriff’s office announced that an arrest was made in connection with this case.

Deputies arrested 36-year-old RONNIE DEWAYNE MORRIS (pictured), on February 3, 2025, and charged him with felony aggravated animal cruelty and abandonment of animals.

MORRIS admitted to investigators Nala was his dog and that he had stopped taking care of her in December.

MORRIS was arraigned and released on his own recognizance due to New York State Bail reform laws. In this regard, Sullivan County Sheriff Michael A. Schiff said: “This is an example of why the bail laws in New York need to change” and he is supporting a proposal in the state legislature to make animal cruelty a bail eligible offense. Sheriff Schiff further said: “The public needs to contact their senator and assembly person and express their dissatisfaction with the current system.”

The scum is due back in court on March 3, 2025, at 5:00 p.m before Judge Baum.
