Corporal MICHAEL PERILLO, with Pennsylvania State Police, charged with aggravated cruelty to animals

On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, a judge dismissed felony animal cruelty charges brought against 53-year-old Pennsylvania State trooper MICHAEL R. PERILLO (pictured).

 

In 2022, PERILLO was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after an on-duty incident that happened on December 28, 2021, in Chester County. PERILLO drove his patrol car into a loose horse on Route 1 in Lower Oxford Township multiple times, which caused the horse to fall. PERILLO then pinned the horse to the pavement and he/she was euthanized by another state trooper.

 

The Standard-Journal reports that the ruling came “after Chester County District Attorney Chris de Barrena-Sarobe notified the judge that Cpl. Michael Perillo’s attorney intended to argue at trial that the horse had to be hit to prevent a potentially serious accident. Noting that the law requires people to value [the] lives of humans over animals, Barrena-Sarobe said ‘I believe the necessity defense is valid and would be successful at trial’.”

 

According to The Standard-Journal, PERILLO’s attorney, William Davis, told the West Chester Daily Local News that the decision to seek the dismissal was the correct choice and thanked the district attorney for seeking the dismissal.

 

Davis said: “We always felt it was an unfair prosecution. If my client had not taken action, things could have turned deadly. He was trying to protect other motorists.”

 

I am sure that while the helpless horse was being struck repeatedly by PERILLO’s vehicle and pinned to the pavement, he/she did not think what was being done was fair or the “correct choice”.

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) announced that Corporal MICHAEL R. PERILLO (pictured), assigned to Troop J in Avondale, is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals after an on-duty incident on December 28, 2021, in Chester County.


According to a criminal complaint filed by PSP Internal Affairs Division, Cpl. PERILLO responded to assist at an incident involving a loose horse on the roadway.

Upon arrival, PERILLO drove a patrol vehicle into the horse multiple times, causing him/her to fall. Using the vehicle, PERILLO then pinned the horse to the pavement, where he/she was euthanized by another trooper. (I hate to think how!!!)


PSP said that the horse was on the shoulder of Route 1 in Lower Oxford Township and had already been struck by a motorist before troopers were dispatched.


PERILLO is charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, both graded as a felony of the third degree, and one count of cruelty to animals, a misdemeanor of the second degree. He was arraigned on Friday, July 22, at the Chester County Justice Center and bail was set at $50,000 unsecured.

PERLLIO has been suspended without pay pending resolution of the case.

The complaint was filed before Magisterial District Judge Scott Massey, in Oxford.

REWARD offered in a case of a young dog intentionally set on fire

On June 18, 2024, the individual responsible for intentionally setting Riona on fire, 45-years-old QUISHON BROWN (pictured), entered the guilty plea to one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and was sentenced to ONLY one year in the Shelby County prison.

 

BROWN was arrested on July 12, 2022, after investigators said video surveillance showed him in his backyard on Berkshire Avenue only thirty-six seconds before Riona escaped and ran down Hood Street. BROWN was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, arson to wit set fire to personal property, and simple assault.

 

According to WREG, the day before BROWN was arrested, “…officers were told that the man responsible for burning the dog told another person he was going to burn down the house of whoever gave the video to police and the news.”

 

Court records show that a few days after his release, BROWN violated his bail conditions when he was found on video with a new puppy so he was re-arrested but authorities did not find the puppy.

 

In a recent Facebook post published by Tails of Hope Dog Rescue, the amazing organization recounted the devastating facts.

 

Part of the post read:

“During that time Riona went through numerous surgeries to repair her little body.

60% of her body received in 4th degree burns.

It was so horrific that one of her ears literally burnt off and fell into [the] bandages one day during a bandage change.

She went through 4 to 5 fully sedated bandage changes per day for several weeks.

She had several surgeries to close up wounds.

She had skin expanders placed in her to help harvest skin that she would need for skin [grafts]. Then she went through those surgeries.

She was provided 24/7 medical care for months.

After one year and just over $92,000.00 worth of medical ( and yes there was a discount) she was adopted by the best family she could have ever dreamt of.”

 

On a separate note, FOX 13 reports that BROWN is also accused of raping a child in December 2020. He was indicted in the case in February 2024, and is set to appear in court again July 26, 2024.

The Memphis-based nonprofit Tails of Hope Dog Rescue is facing an extreme case that goes beyond cruel.


On the evening of Monday, June 20, a dog screaming in pain and running down the street while on fire, caught the attention of residents of the Nutbush community, near Chelsea and Graham in Memphis, who then ran out into the streets.

The horrific act was caught on camera. Part of the footage exclusively published by FOX 13, showed many people running out of their homes all in the same direction. One resident can be seen with a water hose and another neighbor, Ms. Ashlie Craft, came out with a bucket and filled it with water from her pool trying to put out the flames.

A fast-acting Good Samaritan jumped in and put out the flames to rescue the young pup believed to be 1 year old.


The Memphis Police Department was immediately called to the scene, and the furbaby was taken to Bluff City Veterinary Specialists.


Kylie Hunter, a Vet Technician at Bluff City Veterinary Specialists, told FOX 13: “Somebody set this dog on fire. Someone purposely set this dog on fire.”


The dog, now named Riona, was fully examined and Tails of Hope Dog rescue said she was “doused with diesel fuel ( high odor still on her ) and burnt. Lots of raw burnt skin and singed fur.” Riona suffered fourth degree burns to her face and left side, and first to second-degree burns on other parts of her body. Tails of Hope Dog Rescue also said that Riona has “a cut around her neck from a tie up cord.”


The nonprofit said in a Facebook post: “Someone knows who did this. She has old scars from previous injuries, meaning she has been a victim of abuse for a while.”


Memphis Police are investigating this act of absolute evil. Whoever did this to a defenseless breathing being unable to dial for help is not just cruel. The individual is soulless, heartless, and most of all a filthy coward!


A reward of $5,500 is being offered in exchange for information leading to a criminal conviction of the monster who did this to Riona.

KENNY HUMBERTO AMARO accused of strangling to death a harmless and innocent dog with a belt

After hearing back from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office I learned the following:

 

“In Sept 2023, the defendant was found incompetent to proceed and involuntarily hospitalized. The State argued that he should be committed, however the Judge found that there were less restrictive placement alternatives.  At the last report date, I believe that it was represented that he has made significant progress and should be restored in the near future.

When he is restored to competency the case will be assigned to and Assistant State Attorney.”

I have emailed Terry Gonzalez-Chavez, Public Information Officer of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, and inquired at what stage this case is.


However, online court records show that AMARO was scheduled to appear in court on June 23, 2022, and a hearing is scheduled to take place on September 8, 2022.

A court date is coming up for a despicable individual who used his belt to strangle an innocent and defenseless 1-year-old terrier mix dog to death in September 2021.


On September 22, 2021, the Hialeah Police Department received a call about an aggressive man and a dog who may have been injured.


According to the arrest affidavit obtained by Voice For Us, police responded to 85 West 10th Street and upon arrival, 36-years-old KENNY HUMBERTO AMARO (pictured) was located in the middle of the roadway “acting irrationally.”


Officer Gamez was flagged down by the dog’s guardians who advised him that they found their dog named Rocky “lassoed to a traffic street sign.”


Police questioned AMARO about the incident.

AMARO said he had seen Rocky in front of the furbaby’s home and added that the dog acted aggressively toward him.

AMARO also told police that he then lured Rocky and grabbed him “for the safety of the community.”

AMARO said that’s when Rocky repeatedly bit him.

AMARO went on to say that he put his belt around Rocky and swung him in circles several times while the dog was suspended by his neck.


What a surveillance camera captured, however, belied AMARO’s version of the facts.


Police said that footage showed AMARO that had spotted Rocky on the front porch and he bent down to lure the furbaby to him.

Rocky can be seen walking up to AMARO in a non-aggressive way and then walked past him. Rocky then returned to the porch of his family’s home.

AMARO tried once again to lure Rocky to him and as soon as Rocky walked up to him, AMARO took off his belt and wrapped it around Rocky’s neck.

AMARO proceeded to pull the belt as he stood up and then spun Rocky around by his neck several times.

As if that was not cruel and evil enough, AMARO went on to pin Rocky to the ground and he continued to strangle him before spinning him around again.

AMRO kept holding and pulling the belt as Rocky “lies motionless in the roadway”, said police.


Police said, according to the video, at no point did Rocky ever act aggressively toward AMARO, nor did he back away from Rocky as if in fear for his safety.


AMARO was charged with animal cruelty with the intent to do harm or kill.


The day following his arrest, the MURDERER appeared in court and said: “I did not kill the animal on purpose.”

He repeatedly said: “I did not kill the dog. It was a dangerous dog; a mean dog. I did not kill the dog. I tried to grab the dog so I could give it back to his owner and the dog started biting my hand.”


Judge Thomas Rebull, set bail at $25,000 and electronic monitoring under house arrest.


Rocky was a rescue dog and everyone who was interviewed by Local 10 News said that he was a very sweet, friendly, and playful puppy.


Caroline Venditti started a petition addressed to Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle and Miami Criminal Court System asking justice for Rocky.


According to the petition, after AMARO pleaded not guilty, the Chief State Attorney Kathleen Hogue, upped the charges to 1 Felony count of intentional animal cruelty.


AMARO is scheduled to appear in court on June 23, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.
