HAVANNA DEJONET MILLER arrested for repeatedly hitting her defenseless puppy

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, 23-year-old HAVANNA DEJONET MILLER (pictured), was arrested following an investigation by San Antonio Animal Care Services Cruelty Investigators with support from detectives with the S.A.P.D. Property Crimes Task Force.


MILLER is accused of repeatedly striking her defenseless 3-month-old Poodle puppy on the balcony of her apartment in the1200 block of Culebra.


The vile incident, that took place the day before MILLER’s arrest, was thankfully witnessed by a resident who promptly recorded it.


An investigation was immediately launched resulting in MILLER’s arrest and the rescue of the Voiceless Victim.


MILLER faces at least one count of animal cruelty-torture, a 3rd degree felony. Her bond was set at $15,000 and on January 19, 2025, she was released after posting it.

DOMINIQUE TIASHA PARRISH and KELVIN LOVERN SHEPHERD accused of performing illegal procedures on dogs

An animal cruelty investigation conducted by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office led to the execution of a search and seizure warrant at a residence in the 30000 block of Gershwin Road, Charlotte Hall, on January 15, 2025.


According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, at the residence deputies found more than thirty dogs “living in unsafe and unhealthy conditions.” The release stated that many of the dogs “appeared malnourished, underweight, and lacking medical care.”


Deputies learned that the residents of the house, 35-year-old DOMINIQUE TIASHA PARRISH and 51-year-old KELVIN LOVERN SHEPHERD (both pictured), had been performing illegal procedures on the dogs, and evidence of these procedures was recovered at the scene.


Officers from the Animal Services Division of St. Mary’s County Government’s Department of Emergency Services removed a total of thirty-six dogs.

All of the Voiceless Victims were taken to the St. Mary’s County Animal Adoption and Resource Care Center for evaluation and treatment.


PARRISH and SHEPHERD were charged with multiple counts of aggravated animal cruelty, animal cruelty, and performing unlawful medical procedures on dogs.


SHEPHERD was additionally charged with illegal firearm possession as during the search deputies found a Ruger 9mm handgun and ammunition. The sheriff’s office said SHEPHERD is prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior conviction for a disqualifying crime of violence.


The investigation is ongoing and additional details cannot be disclosed at this time.

TAYLOR MICHELLE COLBERT arrested for leaving her puppy to die locked in a cage without food or water

On January 5, 2025, the Auburn Police Department received an animal cruelty complaint regarding a “deceased household animal” at an apartment building in the 1100 block of Opelika Road.


Police along with Animal Control responded to the scene where they discovered a deceased Husky puppy named Sky.


An investigation identified 18-year-old TAYLOR MICHELLE COLBERT (pictured), a student at Southern Union Community College, as Sky’s guardian.


Reportedly, a roommate smelled an odor from COLBERT’s room where she made the heartbreaking discovery. The roommate found Sky lifeless in a pink crate and alerted Animal Control.


Once officials determined that COLBERT “intentionally and knowingly” left Sky locked in a crate for several days over the holidays, leading to the puppy's death, a warrant was issued for her arrest.


As police said in a press release, “evidence indicated that the death of the animal occurred under conditions that were in violation of Alabama state law 13A-11-14.1 regarding aggravated cruelty to animals.”


On January 14, 2024, COLBERT turned herself into the Auburn Police Department in her high-heel boots and dressed in all white. She was booked into the Lee County Jail with bond set at $5,000.


At the time of writing, online records show COLBERT was released after posting bond.


COLBERT was originally charged with a misdemeanor, but later the police upgraded the charge to felony aggravated cruelty to animals.


COLBERT’s attorney, Richard White, told WTVM that a felony animal charge is rare in Alabama and believes that “the amount of negative comments and threats made against Colbert on social media may have contributed to the charge being changed.”
