The Pennsylvania SPCA announced that its Animal Law Enforcement Team launched an investigation to find the lowlife responsible for shooting a defenseless cat with an arrow and leaving her to die a slow and painful death.
In a Facebook post, the agency recounted the heartbreaking facts and shared the distressing pictures of the furvictim named Kimiko.
Kimiko lived in a colony and when her caretaker went to feed her, Kimiko was in her regular waiting place only this time, “in an apparent act of cruelty”, with an arrow protruding through her right thigh.
Kimiko was quickly rushed into Philadelphia Animal Specialty and Emergency's (PASE), where she was stabilized. Philadelphia SPCA officers then picked her up and rushed her back to PSPCA where two surgeons operated to remove the arrow and mend her wounds.
An x-ray image, which Philadelphia SPCA shared on Facebook, showed an arrow point wedged into Kimiko’s right leg, just inches away from her bones. Thankfully, surgeons were able to save Kimiko’s leg and she is now recovering while the veterinarian team continues to ensure that she receives the care she needs.
Kimiko was found injured on Thursday, September 19, 2024, in the 2100 block of 31st Street in Strawberry Mansion. It is suspected that the arrow was shot from a crossbow and it’s unknown whether the target was the colony or Kimiko in particular. Either way, the scum needs to be identified and they must face the legal consequences.
If you have any information regarding this senseless and despicable act, please come forward and speak up. Please contact the Philadelphia SPCA's cruelty hotline at (866) - 601 - 7722. Alternatively, you can email tips which can be left anonymously. Thank you!
