~ Update: November 20, 2023

After hearing back from the Davidson County Sheriff's Office, this is what I learned: “…we are investigating both incidents at this time. We know that the cow incident is an intentional matter and is being investigated as such. The horse matter, we don’t know what caused this. The horse is still living, but the cow is not. We are doing our best to investigate to find the suspect(s) in the intentional shooting of this poor animal. I don’t think we know what happened to the horse. At this time we aren’t releasing any information on the victim in this matter.”

~ Original story:

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public for information that can lead to the criminal conviction of the person(s) responsible for shooting a cow and a horse.

In a media release, the sheriff’s office said that on November 5-6, 2023, deputies launched an animal cruelty investigation after a horse was found shot in the face, specifically in the nasal cavity, in the area of Wildlife Road in Lexington.

A week later, deputies launched a second investigation after on November 12, 2023, a cow had been shot twice in the shoulder area in the Turner Road area in Lexington.

Evidence gathered during the investigations, including veterinary documentation and interviews, indicated that the Voiceless Victims had possibly been shot with Black Powder Shot. The good news is that the innocent souls survived the shootings and are currently going through medical treatment.

As stated in the release, “there are no documented suspects or witnesses at this time” and the victims cannot tell us who is the evil individual who did this.

So, they rely on us to speak up, give them justice, and punish the monster(s).

If you have any information about this case, please, come forward and contact Deputy C. Soles at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division at (336) - 242 - 2105. Thank you!

The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office arrested 36-years-old LINDSEY RAE BRASHEAR (pictured) and 31-years-old KASEY WAYNE CLAY as part of an investigation into an animal cruelty and neglect case.

On June 1, 2023, the owner of a 50-acre plot at 2300 South of 114th Street West went to the property to tell the occupants, BRASHEAR and CLAY, they could no longer live there. He noticed several dead cows and alerted the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office.

According to the sheriff's office's press release, the owner of the property “had a verbal lease agreement with the occupants.”

Responding deputies executed a search warrant which led to the discovery of “approximately 104 animal carcasses (103 cattle, 1 dog)”, stated the release. Deputies also recovered a stolen Kubota tractor.

Muskogee County Sheriff Andy Simmons told 2 News: “No grass on the property that was edible. No grazing areas for the cattle. You could tell down on the south end that they were pushing the fence over trying to get to this lush, green grass over in the other field.”

The sheriff also told News On 6 that there was no running water or electricity.

The veterinarian that was called in had to sadly euthanize a calf who was then taken to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to determine the cause of death.

With the assistance of the City of Muskogee, deputies removed approximately forty (40) cows, seven (7) dogs, and four (4) horses. The City of Muskogee impounded the dogs who were found to be malnourished and tied up in pens. “The food bowls had cobwebs in them. The water bowls had black water in them. So, nothing was being taken care of,” Sheriff Simmons told News On 6. He also said that three of the cows might not make it.

Sheriff Simmons explained to 2 News that “the hills and trees shielding the view of the home's private drive meant no neighboring ranchers could spot anything wrong.”

According to the press release, “Muskogee County Commissioner Kenny Payne and his crew are still in the process of burying the carcasses.”

BRASHEAR was interviewed on site and immediately placed under arrest. She was transported to Muskogee County Jail on animal cruelty charges.

CLAY was arrested the following day, Friday, June 2, 2023.

Online arrest records show, at the time of writing, that they are still in custody.

Sheriff Simmons said the investigation is ongoing.

On May 9, 2023, New York State Police in Herkimer responded to a property on 3403 Military Road in the town of Norway to assist an Animal Cruelty Officer with an animal hoarding/abuse case.

In a news release, police said that a search of the property led to the discovery of “several goats, donkeys, and cows not being properly cared for and in grave condition.”

According to News Channel 2, five goats were sadly found deceased.

Police arrested 60-years-old LORRAINE A. ROSE who rents a camper on the property.

News Channel 2 reports that the owner of the property contacted New York State Police with concerns about the number of animals ROSE had at the property.

Investigators believe that ROSE “was attempting to care for the animals and became overwhelmed.”

As a result, ROSE voluntarily surrendered over eighty (80) goats to Pause 4 All Paws Rescue.

Police said ROSE was charged with five counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals for failure to provide proper sustenance under New York State Agriculture and Markets Law.

The investigation is ongoing.
