The Joliet Police Department arrested 22-years-old SEBASTIAN A. TRUJILLO (pictured), in connection with the death of his dog, a female Husky named Jillo.

The incident happened on Monday, October 24, 2022, at TRUJILLO’s apartment in the 100 block of Clement Street.

Police were called in relation to a disturbance involving a man yelling and a dog in extreme distress.

Responding officers discovered Jillo in the apartment bathroom, lifeless. According to a press release obtained by Voice For Us, TRUJILLO “had used a thin leash with a noose-like collar to drag the dog across the floor of the apartment to place her in a cage at which time the dog’s body fell limp and she passed away.”

At the apartment officers located another Husky who was alive and was placed in the care of Joliet Township Animal Control.

The filthy murderer was taken to the Will County Jail.

According to court records, TRUJILLO was charged with one count of aggravated cruelty to animals and two counts of cruelty to animals. A bail hearing took place the following day at the Will County Courthouse and TRUJILLO was released!

Will County Judge Fred Harvey granted the Will County State's Attorney's Office request for a $25,000 bail against the murderer.

Judge Harvey ordered TRUJILLO to surrender all of his guns and prohibited him from having any animals as part of the bail conditions.

TRUJILLO’s private defense attorney, Neil Patel, told Joliet Patch's editor about his client: “I just know he's really distraught. He was crying when he was in court when the State (prosecutors) was going through the factual allegations.”

Online court records show that the murderer is scheduled to be back in court on December 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. for his preliminary hearing.

On Sunday, November 6, 2022, a deputy with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report about a suspicious male with a dog walking in the roadway in the area of Marble Hill and Dunlap Hollow roads.

The male, identified as 43-years-old JAMES ALBERT CARDONA (pictured), told the deputy that he had been attacked by the dog who he had on the leash. The deputy, however, noticed “superficial, non-puncturing wounds that appeared older in nature, and the dog appeared non-aggressive,” stated a news release by the sheriff’s office. The deputy then transported CARDONA to his residence on Misty Valley Road and discovered multiple dogs. The deputy reported that the dogs did not have any food, water, or shelter.

Sadly, the deputy also discovered “a partially burned deceased dog in a burn barrel.”

But that’s not all. Two puppies were found “inside a wooden utility building with no air, food, or water visible and squalid conditions,” said the sheriff’s office.

At one point, a woman identified as 47-years-old REBECCA MARIE BENNETT (also pictured), returned to the property, and told deputies on the scene that she lived there.

BENNETT had the nerve to tell deputies that “she had not noticed the dogs were malnourished,” stated the release.

In total, deputies discovered eight malnourished dogs who are now in the care of the Blount County Animal Shelter. CARDONA and BENNETT relinquished custody of the dogs.

Deputies arrested BENNETT and CARDONA and were each charged with aggravated cruelty to animals (Class E felony) and eight counts of cruelty to animals (Class A misdemeanor).

The pair were transported to the Blount County Correctional Facility and are both being held on bonds totaling $100,000 each.

CARDONA and BENNETT are scheduled to appear in Blount County General Sessions Court on November 9, 2022, at 9:00 a.m.

On the evening of Saturday, November 5, 2022, the Youngstown Police Department arrested 63-years-old TYRONE FIELDS (pictured), accused of hitting his dogs with a shovel.

Humane agents with the Animal Charity of Ohio responded to a home in the 300 block of Lora Avenue and found blood splattered everywhere. Officials learned that after the dogs started fighting, FIELDS hit them with a metal shovel to break up the fight.

Sadly, officers found one deceased dog. Two dogs who were seriously injured were immediately taken back to the shelter to be treated.

In a Facebook post the Animal Charity of Ohio said: “Throughout everything the dogs remained sweet and gentle while their wounds were cleaned and treated.”

The furbabies are now walking but they have a long road of recovery ahead of them.

FIELDS gave police different versions of the facts and the Animal Charity of Ohio is investigating to determine what really happened.

FIELDS first told police that two stray Pitbulls attacked two of his small dogs and killed one of them.

FIELDS then told officers that the Pitbulls were his and they attacked his small dogs so he hit them with the shovel to separate them.

As FIELDS was being questioned, officials found a dog in the closet who had two broken back legs and head trauma.

Prior to finding the furbaby in the closet, officials found one of the small dogs in a corner of the backyard covered with dirt and leaves and another dog in the house.

FIELDS was booked into the Mahoning County Jail and online arrest records show he was released after posting bond.
