CARL MOGLIKA JR. facing charges one month after his dog was rescued from severe abuse and neglect

MSPCA-Angell announced that CARL MOGLIKA JR. has now been charged with two felony counts of animal cruelty after his dog was rescued on May 4, 2022, thanks to collaborative efforts by the MSPCA-Angell’s Law Enforcement Department, Agawam Police and Agawam Animal Control.


The MSPCA-Angell said that MOGLIKA’s dog, a 4-and-a-half-year-old female Pitbull mix named Sophie, was removed after neighbors who heard her being hit and crying in pain, notified the management office at an Agawam condominium complex where MOGLIKA was living.

The office then alerted the MSPCA-Angell.


After being removed from this soulless and heartless individual, the furbaby was immediately brought to the MSPCA-Angell’s Boston shelter.

Veterinarian who examined Sophie found that “in addition to being emaciated, she had anemia, a fractured tooth, and a thin coat. Since then, shelter staff have been nursing her back to health and say she's incredibly friendly and loving, despite her past trauma”, said the MSPCA-Angell.

As the MSPCA-Angell said, Sophie is “learning some behavior skills from scratch because normal forms of dog communication were ignored in her last home.”


As reported by NBC Boston, Mike Keiley, director of adoption centers and programs at MSPCA-Angell, explained that Sophie tends to guard her food or toys by growling, lunging, or biting, so, staff at the shelter is working hard to help Sophie “how to communicate with people in a new way.”


The MSPCA-Angell also said: “Despite her history, Sophie has a big personality and is silly and engaging. She loves being around people.”


Sophie is now looking for a furever home where she can be treated the way all animals deserve to be treated, with love, respect, and dignity!

MOGLIKA was arraigned on two counts of felony animal cruelty on Thursday, June 16, at Westfield District Court.

JOHN ANTHONY WELLS arrested after being wanted for abandoning his dog without food and water

Harmar Township Police have arrested 23-years-old JOHN ANTHONY WELLS (pictured) after being wanted on charges of animal cruelty and neglect.


According to the criminal complaint obtained by Voice For Us, on February 11, 2022, the Department was contacted by Mr. Al Bocheck about an abandoned dog at a property owned by him and his wife on 489 Nixon Road in Cheswick.


Officer Fechke responded to the scene and spoke with Mr. and Mrs. Bocheck who in the meantime were caring for the dog.

The couple told Officer Fechke that due to the apparent unhealthy condition of the furbaby, they were making arrangements to take the dog to an animal hospital for immediate evaluation and treatment.

Harmar Township Police tell me that the furbaby is a 4-5-year-old male Border Collie mix breed.


Mr. and Mrs. Bocheck told Officer Fechke that they were renting the property to WELLS and he had not been at the home for three full weeks.

The Bochecks also told Officer Fechke that WELLS told them the dog was his service dog.


Officer Fechke reported that the dog “was very emaciated, his fur was matted and stained with urine and fecal matter.”

He further reported that during WELLS’ absence, the furbaby was left crated in the basement, without food or water inside a 36.5" x 32,2" x 24.7" cage.


Officer Fechke contacted the nonprofit Animal Friends and spoke with Justin Galvin who agreed to assist him with the investigation. Mr. Galvin then took custody of the furbaby for additional care and treatment.

About a month later, on March 14, 2022, Officer Fechke met with Mr. Galvin to discuss the dog's evaluation, treatment, and health condition and learned that the day after the dog was removed from the home, he had been examined and treated by Dr. Denise Pleban of Animal Friends.


A medical examination revealed that the dog's body weight was 29.7 pounds.

His body score was listed as 1, indicating extreme emaciation. The medical report also revealed muscle atrophy of the front and hind legs, including the hips. The MCS (muscle condition score) was also listed as severe.

Dr. Pleban additionally reported that the dog's ribs, spine, and hips were very prominent, indicating extreme dehydration and malnourishment.


As of March 9, 2022, the dog had a weight of 41.4 pounds.

The increase of 11.7 pounds in a span of about one month proves that the furbaby’s weight at the time of recovery ”was directly related to neglect of the animal and not the result of genetics or illness”, stated the complaint.


According to the criminal complaint, WELLS returned to the property on March 10, 2022, and asked Mr. and Mrs. Bocheck about his mail but did not mention his dog!


Officer Fechke requested a warrant for WELLS’ arrest.

He was taken into custody on two counts of cruelty to animals, two counts of aggravated cruelty, and four counts of neglect.

WELLS was booked into the Allegheny County Jail.

LISA DUNN arrested after her dog was found in an abandoned home scattered with feces and urine

- New York, USA -


Following a joint investigation between the Suffolk County SPCA and the Amityville Police Department, 56-year-old LISA DUNN was charged with one count of animal cruelty, a class A Misdemeanor, “for allowing her dog to remain in an abandoned home strewn with feces, urine, garbage, wasted food and insects,” announced the Suffolk County SPCA.


DUNN, of 61 Carleton Avenue, Amityville, is accused of neglecting her 4-year-old male Cane Corso Pitbull mix named Blue.


The Amityville Police Department tells me that Blue “was removed and transported to an animal hospital in West Islip, New York.”


According to the Suffolk County SPCA, DUNN was arrested on June 2, 2022, and while she was being arrested, she was found to be in possession of cocaine.

DUNN was then additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A Misdemeanor.


DUNN was scheduled to be arraigned on June 6, 2022, in Amityville Village Court.

At the time of writing, I have not found any updates on the outcome of the arraignment.
