The Rhode Island SPCA announced that 39-years-old MICHAEL PINTO (pictured), is facing animal cruelty charges after his dog, a Great Dane named Buddy died in July 2022, due to neglect.
The Glocester Police Department arrested PINTO on July 29, 2022, after officers discovered Buddy on his property. Buddy was severely emaciated, neglected, and in need of immediate medical care. Although the furbaby was rushed to the vet, he did not recover from his mistreatment and sadly passed away.
Court records show PINTO was charged with one count of unnecessary cruelty to animals, one count of overwork, mistreatment, or failure to feed animals, and one count of failing to provide adequate food/water/care.
During his arraignment on August 4, 2022, PINTO entered a not guilty plea and was released after posting bond.
A pretrial conference is set to take place on August 17, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Elaine T. Bucci.
