~ Update: November 2, 2023

I heard back from Animal Control and learned that the dog is about 10 months old and his name is Zeus. “He is doing fine, improving every day”, I was told in an email. Zeus was awarded custody to the Houston SPCA and “is being treated for injuries and malnourishment.”

A Belgian Malinois is now thankfully safe after a video captured a savage striking him with a weight.

In the video, a male can be seen picking up a weight and throwing it at his dog. He then goes back over to the dog to repeatedly hit the furbaby who was in a “submissive position”, said the Houston SPCA in a press release.

The dog, unable to call for help, can be heard yelping and crying in pain.

The incident happened at a residence in the 400 block of Aurora Creek.

The Houston SPCA said that the rescue of the dog is the result of the “collaborative efforts” of the agency, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office, and Waller County Animal Control.

The Voiceless Victim was “severely malnourished”, said the Houston SPCA, but his well-being is now under the vigilant care of their veterinary staff and support teams.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing and the case will be heard by a judge next week.

Although animal cruelty in Texas is a felony, the crime is punishable by a maximum of ONLY two years in prison and a fine of $10,000. The identity of the scum has not been released.

The Houston SPCA said that its Chief Cruelty Investigator, Jay Chase, stressed the importance of community involvement and said: “If you are able to safely obtain photos or video to report animal cruelty, it can be very useful against those who commit these crimes in public view.”

Remember, reporting animal cruelty may save lives!

The Office of Constable Alan Rosen, Harris County Constable Precinct 1 is investigating after a dog was found abandoned on a balcony.

The agency explained in a media release that on October 24, 2023, one of its animal cruelty investigators along with the Houston SPCA were dispatched to an apartment complex on 12303 Gulf Freeway in Houston after receiving a call about a dog who had been abandoned.

On the balcony of an apartment located on the third floor, officials found indeed a dog “with no food/water or shelter”, stated the release.

Investigators said that the Voiceless Victim “was reported to be on the balcony for at least three weeks but started to show severe emaciation recently.”

After executing a seizure warrant, the furvictim was removed and taken to the Houston SPCA to be examined.

As stated in the release, the investigation is ongoing and once completed, it will be handed over to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

On the night of Monday, October 9, 2023, the Houston SPCA along with the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s office responded to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of North Magregor after receiving a report of animal abuse.

In a press release, the Houston SPCA said that the incident was captured on a Ring doorbell camera. The footage showed a male kicking a dog unable to fight back and unable to call for help! In the disturbing video, the male can be seen lifting the dog by one of his back legs and tossing him across the walkway. The male then proceeds to threaten the dog to kick him some more.

In the press release, the Houston SPCA described the Voiceless Victim as a 50-pound, 1-year-old English Bulldog.

Officials arrived at the location with a civil seizure warrant to rescue the Bulldog, and once on the scene, they found two French Bulldogs. The poor souls were “confined in a small wire kennel, soaked in urine and feces.”

Thankfully, all the furbabies were removed and they are now safe in the care of the Houston SPCA.

In a Facebook post, Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s office said that the male has been identified but his name has not been made public yet. According to the Facebook post, “The entire investigation has been turned over to the Harris County District Attorney's Office. The DA will decide if and when charges will be filed in this case.”

While stressing the importance of reporting animal cruelty, Jay Chase, Chief Cruelty Investigator at the Houston SPCA, said: “If you are able to safely obtain photos or video to report animal cruelty, it can be very useful against those who dare to commit these crimes in public view.”

In an interview with FOX 26, Harris County Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen rightfully said: “We have to be the voice of the voiceless.”
