The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that on April 5, 2023, Detective Cauley and Detective Wenrick served 19-years-old JAYMARION JAKLEEM LAWTON (pictured), with a search warrant for his cell phone.
Upon inspection of the device, in the saved videos investigators found “an eight-minute video recording of an individual pouring Liquid Fire (Sulfuric Acid used to unclog drains) onto a household cat closed within an animal trap.”
This gut-wrenching discovery led detectives to investigate the incident.
From an investigation it emerged that the incident happened on February 14, 2023, in the 300 block of Northeast 17th Avenue in Okeechobee County.
Detectives learned that LAWTON recorded the video on his phone while 21-years-old ANDREW JERMAINE JACKSON III (also pictured), “was identified as the second person recording the incident.” According to the release, 22-years-old WANYA MARQUESE SANDS (also pictured), “was identified as the subject who was seen on the video pouring the Liquid Fire onto the cat's body and head numerous times throughout the 8-minute video.”
The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office chose to not publish the distressing video in its entirety.
The video posted in the comments section has the duration of approximately a minute and it is sufficiently sickening! The evil individuals can be heard laughing while they are perpetrating senseless abuse on a creature unable to fight back. Not only that, after pouring the acid, two of them can be seen teasing the furbaby with a stick. The cat, unable to escape, is visibly nervous and terrified.
On April 11, 2023, investigators located SANDS and questioned him. While he was being interviewed, SANDS “began to flee on foot from the detectives.” Eventually, SANDS “was tackled and taken into custody.”
SANDS is facing aggravated animal cruelty and resisting arrest charges.
LAWTON, who was in custody from the search warrant and those charges, was arrested for accessory after the fact to a level five third-degree felony and aggravated animal cruelty.
The sheriff’s office said that after realizing the detectives had probable cause for his arrest, JACKSON turned himself into the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office and was arrested for accessory after the fact to a level five third-degree felony and aggravated animal cruelty.
As for the only victim of this heinous crime, the sheriff’s office said that at this time his/her whereabouts are unknown. According to the sheriff’s office, it was reported that the cat “was let out of the cage and ran away.”
Okeechobee County Animal Control was also contacted “and there were no reports of cats being turned in for refuge.”
As stated in the release, Animal Control “reports they did not receive any cats from February to the present date showing any signs of chemical burns which would have been the result of the Liquid Fire being poured onto the cat.”
Online records show that only LAWTON is in custody!
Just think, the incident happened on February 14, a day on which most people choose to display love and care. Instead, these three useless individuals chose to display barbaric and evil behavior!
Any comment aimed at the defense or justification of these three evil individuals’ actions will be deleted and the author banned!
Under NO circumstances I will allow despicable acts inflicted upon innocent, defenseless, and helpless souls to be defended!
Animals CANNOT defend themselves so expect me to do it for them!
