On Friday, February 24, 2023, 67-years-old DAVID WESLEY KELSEY (pictured), pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals and judge Robert Harper gifted him with a 3-year probation sentence.

On August 7, 2018, Abilene Police Department executed a search warrant at KELSEY’s home on Old Anson Road, with hopes of finding evidence related to an undisclosed street crime.

In the backyard on the property, officers saw a large dog who was bleeding from the nose, was also tethered to the porch and had minimal room to move. Officers reported that there was no food or water for the dog and the only shelter was a table and an old door.

Police also said that “Blood covered the dog’s lower front legs, its muzzle, and mouth.”

When officers questioned KELSEY about the dog, he gave different versions of the facts. He first said that he had no idea why his dog was bleeding. Then, he claimed he could not afford to take his dog to the veterinarian but investigators were able to prove that was false.

Animal control removed the dog and took him/her to Animal Health and Medical Center where Dr. Allen J. Bolt, DVM, diagnosed a severe case of heart worm. According to Dr. Bolt, the dog had been infected for at least a year. He also rated the furbaby 2 out of 9 on the emaciation scale.

KELSEY was released from custody after posting a $5,000 bond.

I have sent out several emails to find more about the furvictim. If I get responses, I will post an update.

~ Update: September 8, 2022

The Tuscaloosa Police Department announced that 23-years-old BLANE AUSTIN COLBURN (pictured) began his 90-day jail sentence in the Tuscaloosa County jail.

The sentence concludes an animal cruelty case which goes back to July 2020, when a disturbing video posted on Facebook showed COLBURN dumping three puppies from a crate and throwing two of them against a bathroom wall.

The community helped with the investigation by identifying COLBURN who then turned himself in.

The VOCELESS VICTIMS were examined by a veterinarian who found one of them suffered bruised ribs. All the furbabies made a full recovery.

After his release in November 2022, COLBURN will be placed on probation for three years.

While I find this sentence to be extremely light and ridiculous, Tuscaloosa Police wrote in a Facebook post: “We’re grateful for the attorneys with the Tuscaloosa County District Attorney's Office who take these cases seriously, ensuring jail time for offenders who harm animals.”

COLBURN was wanted by the police after a video that circulated online was also reported to the authorities.

The distressing video shows a male callously dumping three young dogs from a crate and throwing two of them against a wall.

Investigators have charged COLBURN with first-degree animal abuse.

All three furbabies were examined by a veterinarian. One of them was found to have suffered from minor injuries. All these innocent souls are expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities have arrested 23-year-old CHRISTOPHER CASTILLO (pictured below).

CASTILLO is accused of fatally stabbing the family dog and was charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Daily Herald reports that Kane County Forest Preserve Police Chief Mike Gilloffo said the charge stems from an incident that happened on March 25.

CASTILLO had told his parents he was taking the dog for a walk around 4:30 a.m.

By 8:00 a.m. CASTILLO and the dog did not return home so the family reported CASTILLO missing.

According to Chief Gilloffo, the family later found CASTILLO’s car in the parking lot of Helm Woods Forest Preserve.

They also recovered the wounded furbaby and a piece of clothing.

The furbaby was first taken home and then police took him/her to a veterinary hospital.

Sadly, the furbaby did not make it.

CASTILLO was located later that day while he was walking on Route 62.

Reportedly, he told police God told him to kill the family dog.

As reported by Daily Herald, “Due to concerns about his mental health, police took Castillo to a hospital for evaluation.”

I guess there was nothing wrong with him because he is already out walking our streets!

CASTILLO is no different from other animal abusers!

He is just concentrated pure evil!

The murderer is free on $7,500 bond.
