A call about an aggressive dog led to the arrest of 33-years-old CHARITY MICHELLE WALL and 32-years-old JOSEPH KYLE JONES (both pictured).

In a news release, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said that on July 12, 2023, deputies assisted Randolph County Animal Services with a report about an aggressive dog at a property on Searcy Road Extension.

Outside the residence, responding officers found abandoned malnourished dogs. The sheriff’s office did not disclose the number of dogs but said that two of them were sadly found dead.

The reporting party also told officers that inside the home there were multiple dogs unsupervised.

Officers were able to make contact with the homeowners, WALL and JONES, who allowed them to enter the property. Once inside, officers found a mother dog with her puppies and sadly, two of them were found lifeless.

The sheriff’s office has not shared any additional information about all the furvictims involved in this case.

After an investigation determined that WALL and JONES were the current residents of the property, as well as the dogs’ guardians, charges were sought against them for nine felony counts of cruelty to animals. The magistrate found probable cause and issued arrest warrants for WALL and JONES.

The pair were placed under arrest on July 19, 2023, and transported to Randolph County Detention Center. WALLS was issued a $10,000 secured bond while JONES was hit with a $20,000 secured bond. At this time of writing, records show they are still in custody.

According to online court records, WALL and JONES are scheduled to appear at Randolph County District Court on the morning of Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

~ Update: July 24, 2023

I heard back from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

I was told that a total of six dogs were located on the property. Sadly, one of them was found deceased. None of the Voiceless Victims had food or water. Officials removed the live five dogs. When MCKENZIE arrived, he had two dogs with him and they were also removed.

To my inquiry about the furvictims’ name, age, breed, and gender, I was told “unknown.”

My request to share the furvictims’ pictures was declined as this time as this is an active case.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 28-years-old KEONTAI JAVON MCKENZIE (pictured).

According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, along with Randolph County Animal Services deputies responded to a property on Little Beane Store Road in Seagrove on June 5, 2023, after receiving a report of animal cruelty incident.

Randolph County Crime Scene Investigation and Criminal Investigations also responded to the scene “to collect evidence.” An investigation led to MCKENZIE as the suspect and charges were subsequently sought against him for felony kill animal by starvation and five counts of misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

Additionally, the investigation led Randolph County Animal Services to remove “the dogs on the property.”

The sheriff’s office said the magistrate found probable cause and issued an arrest warrant for MCKENZIE who was located and placed under arrest on July 20, 2023.

MCKENZIE was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his outstanding warrants. Online records show MCKENZIE was released after posting a $5,000 secured bond.

According to the press release, MCKENZIE’s first court appearance was scheduled for July 21, 2023, in Randolph County District Court. Court records show his next court appearance is set for September 13, 2023.

The sheriff’s office has not disclosed any information about dogs.

It’s unknown how many dogs were found, how many were removed, in which condition they were found, and whether any dogs were found deceased. I have emailed Sheriff Gregory J. Seabolt and requested all this information. If I get a response, I will post an update.

On Monday, June 14, a deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a residence on Sandalwood Drive in Denton in an attempt to serve a criminal summons on 68-years-old MELINA KAY ROBINSON (pictured) for livestock running at large.

According to a press release by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy observed signs of animal neglect, so a referral was made to Randolph County Animal Control.

Animal Control tried to talk to ROBINSON the same day but she was not at the property so the agency requested that sheriff’s office assist them in a follow up at a later date.

On Friday, June 17, deputies along with Animal Control went to ROBINSON’s residence to check on the welfare of her dogs. They made contact with ROBINSON who gave officers consent for a welfare check of the animals that she had on the property. It was evident to officers that serious neglect had gone on for some time on numerous animals so the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division was called in for further investigation. Detectives obtained and executed a search warrant that led to a total of 55 animals being removed from the property.

As indicated in the press release, officers removed:

44 Dogs

7 Cats

1 Bird

1 Guinea Pig

1 Rabbit

1 Turtle

The sheriff’s office pointed out that the animals were removed “due to poor living conditions, malnourishment of the majority of the animals, lack of basic dietary needs, and obvious untreated wounds on some animals.”

The animals were taken into custody by Randolph County Animal Services for urgent medical care and rehabilitation. Twelve of them were in critical condition and were taken to veterinarian clinics.

Following the investigation on scene, ROBINSON was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for charges of ten counts of Felony cruelty to animals. ROBINSON was given a $25,000 secured bond.

On June 20, Randolph County Animal Services reported that the twelve dogs taken for medical care are back in their custody and are in stable condition.

For the other animals, appointments are being scheduled with veterinarian clinics.

The sheriff’s office said that additional charges may be forthcoming.
