- Nebraska, USA -
The Bellevue Police Department arrested 24-years-old DEYJION TYRONE JEFFERSON (pictured).
In an emotional interview with KETV, Kiki Mathos explained that she and her seven-year-old son were out of town when her husband, JEFFERSON, committed the crime on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
JEFFERSON is accused of beating two cats, Reena and her sister Loka, with a wooden back scratcher.
KETV reports that according to police documents, JEFFERSON video messaged his wife Kiki to show her the injured furbabies. Kiki then alerted the authorities and the Bellevue Police Department along with the Nebraska Humane Society responded to the couple’s apartment.
Sadly, Reena later passed away, and Loka is being treated for serious bodily injuries.
While in tears, Kiki told KETV that she had had Reena and Loka since they were babies. She said: “You say cats, I say daughters.” She said that JEFFERSON beat the cats because they had scratched the carpet. Kiki rightfully said: “So what? My son draws on the wall, you’re gonna do the same thing to him?”
6 News reports that JEFFERSON told police he was stressed and with a wooden back scratcher he “hit the cats about 10 times.”
6 News further reports that after JEFFERSON said he was stressed, he “allegedly told an officer he occasionally used marijuana and pointed to an ashtray that held smoked blunts in his kitchen. A marijuana grinder was also found by an officer in his apartment.”
JEFFERSON is charged with intentional animal cruelty.
He made his first court appearance on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, and bond was set at $10,000. The savage is expected back in court on November 27, 2023.
Kiki has a GoFundMe to raise money for Loka’s medical bills. If you wish and can afford to donate, please click here. Thank you!
