- Florida, USA -
On the morning of Tuesday, April 11, 2023, a citizen called the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Team to report some dogs in distress at a house on 3762 Brockington Circle in Cocoa.
Officer Maldonado and Officer Kaufman responded to the scene to investigate. They were unable to make contact with anybody at the residence, but the reporting party allowed them into their property from which they could see the dogs. Officers saw two deceased dogs, who were tied up and extremely thin. A third dog tethered in the same yard was barely alive. Officers were able to identify him as Ace through a database maintained by Shelter Buddy.
Animal Cruelty Investigators were immediately called in.
A warrant was obtained for the arrest of 38-years-old ROBERT MCGREGOR SWINDOLL (pictured).
Brevard County Sheriff Ivey said the dogs were not SWINDOLL’s and someone who was not allowed on the property anymore was taking dog food over. Despite that, SWINDOLL allowed two dogs to starve to death.
An affidavit obtained through public records identifies the dogs’ guardian as Lashawnda Spencer who passed away in December 2022. The affidavit goes on to identify Levetirus Cole as the person who was bringing food to the dogs and he was in a relationship with Ms. Spencer when she was alive.
SWINDOLL was booked into the Brevard County Jail on three felony counts of animal cruelty and three misdemeanor counts of confinement without food and water.
SWINDOLL is being held on a $7,500 bond.
According to court records, SWINDOLL’s next court appearance is set for May 11, 2023, at 8:30 a.m.
As Sheriff Ivey said, while in jail, SWINDOLL will be fed, will be given water, and will be taken care of. By law, SWINDOLL cannot be treated the way he treated those Voiceless Victims.
