The Tucson Police Department arrested 25-years-old CYRIS ALEXANDAR PANOS (pictured), accused of murdering two innocent dogs.
PANOS is also known by his drag queen name Lexi Leaves.
Police tell me that on Friday, September 8, 2023, around 6:00 p.m. officers from Operations Division West responded to the 1300 block of North Euclid Avenue for reports of animal abuse.
Gabrielle Clarke told 13 News that she came home after work and couldn’t find her dog, Hazel-Marie. Gabrielle started looking for her until she made a gruesome discovery in PANOS’ car. Gabrielle explained to 13 News: “Something caught my eye in the car. I don’t know what it was or why. But it drew me to the car. I started checking the car and I looked in the back window and there was a suitcase.”
Gabrielle claims that PANOS, her former roommate, killed Hazel-Marie, shoved her in her suitcase, and then put the suitcase in his car.
Tucson Police tell me that Pima Animal Control took custody of Hazel-Marie.
That same day, police were alerted to the death of another dog, named Ellie, at a property in the 3300 block of North Los Altos. Investigators believed the two incidents were related and an investigation identified PANOS as a person of interest in the case.
Ellie’s guardian, Angelyssa Hudson, told 13 News that she and her roommate found Ellie in the backyard. Hudson explained: “I was smelling fire constantly and that’s when we saw the fire.” She went on to explain: “When we found her we don’t know if he lit her on fire when she was alive or if he killed her first. But, she was tied up to a chair.”
Hudson told 13 News that PANOS was familiar with Ellie living there as he spent a lot of time at the house. In fact, PANOS was there Friday and asked to take Ellie on a walk.
Police arrested PANOS on September 14, 2023, and booked him into the Pima County Jail on two counts of animal cruelty.
